Awards for Meeniyan ewe Meeniyan's Ivydown Southdown Stud has won the Champion Southdown Ewe Class at this year's Royal Melbourne Show. Their ewe also won the under 1.5 years class, and judge Ian Pfeiffer had nothing but praise for the prize animal. "The champion is a very neat sheep, which handled exceptionally well and had meat in all the right places," he said. "This ewe will go on to win many more classes at other major shows throughout Australia." Dave Reynolds, who operates the stud with wife Neralie, said he had refused a number if significant offers for the ewe. "This ewe is the finest we have seen, and had 47 years of breeding behind her including many top New Zealand bloodlines . . . you never sell your very best."
