The
IVYDOWN
Southdown Stud
was established last centuary when Dave & Neralie REYNOLDS purchased
the entire Southdown breeding flocks known as LYNGROVE, PUNCHGROVE and
HIGHBANK from the Moore family in Campania, Tasmania. They have also
purchased the entire Southdown breeding flock known as JADONE from Graeme &
Janine Donnelly.
The Moore family established the Lyngrove Stud (flock number 1224) in 1952 and
has since been operated by Kevin & Dale MOORE and families. The stud
established and still holds Australian record prices paid for their stud rams.
The stud has entered and won in almost every class at every major agricultural
show in Australia, including the World Sheep Expo and the Melbourne Wool and
Sheep Show. For almost 47 years they have sold rams to every State in Australia
and at one time were selling large numbers of Southdown Stud Sheep to Western
Australia sight unseen. Such was the reputation of the Stud.
Throughout the years of operation of the Stud, Lyngrove has been leaders in the
development of Southdowns in Australia and been innovators using Artificial
Insemination and the infusion of New Zealand bloodlines to enhance the gene
pool available to prospective clients.
The entire breeding flock was purchased due to the Moore family undertaking
other agricultural enterprises and both Kevin and Dale MOORE have been retained
as consultants due to their experience and ability to produce arguably the
second highest rated Southdown Stud Sheep in the Commonwealth.
The entire flock and property are Ovine Brucellosis and Ovine Johnes Disease
accredited free MN3.
In the seasons 2001-2004 the Ivydowns Southdown stud has been the most
successful Southdown stud in the world.
The Ivydown Stud is a member of the Australian Society of Breeders of British
Sheep and the Australian Sheep Breeders Association.

All of these rams being bred by the Reynolds Family at Meeniyan and are offered after extensive selection and heavy culling, to enable us to offer superior rams to & for the maternal and terminal breeder. We are now confident that our motto Breeding for tomorrow today , is apt as we have now arrived with three breeds of sheep we are proud to offer for sale. All sheep offered will be performance recorded and are bred from our own registered Studs. At our recent Production Sale, we once again had total clearance of all 81 lots offered and once again achieving a record average for all lots. The Ivydowns Southdown Stud in 2005 was awarded with it's 16 consecutive Champion Southdown Ram at the Royal Shows including Canberra, Sydney , Adelaide and Melbourne, a feat that has never been achieved by any other Southdown Stud.
