Welcome to the home page for the

Fantasy Australian Rules Competition (FARC)

This is a non - profit fantasy football competition, founded in 1996.

A brief description of the league: Each of the 10 coaches in FARC select a team list of 35 players in a draft, with each AFL player only able to be selected by one team. Each week during the AFL season, each coach submits the 21 players he thinks will score the most from his list. Players score points for gaining kicks, marks, handballs etc, and the side with the most points wins the match.

In 1998 a positional element has been added to the competition. Each player now has one or more positions he is allowed to play in, and the team must be selected with players in their correct positions.

The skill of the game lies in choosing the best players possible during the draft, and then optimizing your score each week. There is a large component of luck involved with injuries and form fluctuations, but the best sides usually win in the end.

In 1997 I introduced a $20 fee, which is put into the prize pool for the winners.

This competition has a limit of 8 teams, which are all currently filled. If you are interested in putting your name down on the waiting list, visit the Australian Fantasy Football Association's (AFFA) homepage.

The second season of FARC has now been completed. The 1997 premiers went the

Mt Nittany Bombers

coached by Sharan Majumdar, who was originally based in England, but now lives in the US! Sharan's Bombers reversed the previous seasons Grand Final result by defeating the 1996 premiers, Killer Kangaroos coached by me :)

The second season continued the success of the first season. With the experience of the first season behind them, coaches were much more knowledgeable about fantasy football, and the results were much more even as a result.

Special commendations to the Elephants and Wabbits both of whom made huge improvements over their 1996 form.

With the introduction of the positional element into the competition, two teams have voluntarily moved to another league to allow us to reduce our numbers to 8. Thanks to the Diamonds and the Raptors for agreeing to move!
