Head Office is located in Warragul, Victoria – one hour east of Melbourne CBD. There are state offices servicing the capital cities and regional areas of Australia and New Zealand.  SYM-PAC systems are designed and developed at the Victorian Head Office for distribution across Australia and New Zealand.

Our Experience
SYM-PAC business solutions have been accepted by many retailers in Australasia as a valuable management tool assisting clients to become more competitive and profitable. Specific modules of the SYM-PAC system have been designed to cater for the needs of “Customer Ordering” based companies. These modules have also proven to provide a reliable tailored solution for appliance, furniture and flooring retail stores. The SYM-PAC software has now been accepted as the system of choice for many retail based businesses throughout Australasia.
SYM-PAC has developed specific modules for Franchisors that enable critical information to be monitored from a central office. This includes various KPI reports and information to permit "franchise and marketing fees" to be billed.
We have an ongoing commitment to the development of SYM-PAC systems, with full integration to all of the suppliers of electronic product files. As required, stores can choose to interface their SYM-PAC system with the facilities of Mitre10, John Danks & Son, Combined Rural Traders, AIS, and many other groups. Direct integration of "supplier" based data bases can be carried out using Ascii (delimited), Fixed Format, XML, Spread Sheets, etc.
Electronic communications are already available in the systems used by the leading suppliers, and these communication links transfer a wide range of information. This process integrates data into the clients’ SYM-PAC software. This provides a versatile and efficient communications link that reduces the labour required to maintain accurate and timely updates of the information for the store.
SYM-PAC SVOS module facilitates the interchange of information between stores for those clients who have multiple site communication requirements. EFTPOS can be integrated to the SYM-PAC system by the use of third party communications systems. Details of these can vary depending upon the carrier chosen and the state of operations.

The Architecture:           Return to Top.

  • All data bases are ODBC
  • All data bases can be accessed via SQL
  • All data bases can be exported and imported via XML
  • All databases can be used by Excel, Access and other generic software products

SYM-PAC uses its own Data Dictionaries to create virtual data base environments. These dictionaries are the basis upon which all data interacts between tables, systems and other locations and servers.
The SYM-PAC Remote Processing Module (RPM) enables users to carry on processing on a "stand alone" basis, separate from the server. Even if the LAN is inoperable the "RPM" enables processing to continue. This is a unique feature to SYM-PAC. It is a feature that combines the SVOS (SYM-PAC Virtual Online System) and the new data dictionaries to enable the user to carry out processing on laptops, bring them back to the office and have the data processed and transferred from the laptops automatically updating the Server. The same method can be employed to operate "Standalone Registers", even if the network is available or not.
SYM-PAC software incorporates a powerful schema generation system that can be used to add data to other SQL databases both locally and on other remote servers.
SYM-PAC can also accept data in XML format from outside sources and via the inbuilt data checks, which form the basis for the Data Dictionaries and Virtual Data Base System, to validate its own ODBC data structures.
The system uses the latest technologies available in ‘Delphi 2006’ and ‘C#’ compilers.
Data Integrity can still be offered to the end user who wants to carry out structured queries using an SQL engine.  That engine does not need to be the one used by SYM-PAC as various XML extracts, communication and transformations can update other SQL data bases.  The ability to interface to web based solutions is also a feature of SYM-PAC.

"The only thing holding back the user of SYM-PAC is their imagination, as our innovation is ready".

Terms Explanation

ODBC expanded as Open DataBase Connectivity, is a standard database access method developed by the SQL Access group in 1992. The goal of ODBC is to make it possible to access any data from any application, regardless of which database management system (DBMS) is handling the data. ODBC provides the standard of ubiquitous data access because hundreds of ODBC drivers exist for a large variety of data sources. ODBC operates with a variety of operating systems and drivers exist for non-relational data such as spreadsheets, text and XML files.

SQL, expanded as Structured Query Language, is a computer language designed for the retrieval and management of data in relational database management systems , database schema creation and modification, and database object access control management. SQL has been standardized by both ANSI and ISO .

XML, expanded as Extensible Markup Language is a general-purpose markup language. It is classified as an extensible language because it allows its users to define their own tags. Its primary purpose is to facilitate the sharing of data across different information systems, particularly via the Internet. It is a simplified subset of the Standard Generalised Markup Language (SGML), and is designed to be relatively human-legible. By adding semantic constraints, application languages can be implemented in XML. XML is recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium

Design Overview:           Return to Top.

  • The system is expandable and scalable
  • Regardless of the size of the data bases the processing is fast.
  • Flexible accessing of the data bases at various levels of IT ability
    • Level 1: All enquiries (via the SYM-PAC enquiry engine) offer simple reporting and totaling capability. The user can select the data required.
    • Level 2: The SYM-PAC system offers a powerful "Report Generator". This can be tailored by the user and can operate on the entire SYM-PAC data base. This can also be used to export CSV files.
    • Level 3: (A) SQL where the parent data base is protected and can only be queried and extracted. Pivot tables can even be updated online.
    • Level 3: (B) Other generic products such as crystal reports, extracts to MS word, excel are also available.
  • Able to be enhanced without damaging existing systems and be able to have "add on" applications "fitted" later.
  • All documents are automatically integrated with e-mail facilities (& Faxing) ie;
    • Purchase Orders.
    • Invoices.
    • Statements.
    • Remittance Advices.
    • General Reporting.
  • Flexibility to add additional data tables without impacting the speed of the system.
  • Development of the PDA hand held computing facilities
    • Customer ordering with wireless downloading to the server,
    • Invoicing with printing capability to be activated by the server,
    • Warehouse goods inwards module to enable the checking at inwards goods against purchase and customer orders pre loaded into the hand held device,
  • Easy conversion from other systems.
  • Notes system and recording of sundry data ie, word documents, scanned documents, images etc.
  • Faster data recognition of external information entered via bank statements – debtors and creditors paid electronically.
  • SVOS (SYM-PAC Virtual Online System) system and data recovery methods including data minding.
  • User configurable cost, price and quantity decimals by system and individual product.
  • PDF and e-mailing of documents and reports. The system integrates seamlessly with the customer, supplier and payroll systems.
  • Signature pads at POS
    • On 40 column sales dockets without loosing the very fast printing of the SYM-PAC POS application.
    • On plain paper "free form".
    • On Invoice Statements.
    • Printing can be controlled on the form script enabling the user to design and alter their layouts.
