Hammond Organs and Leslie Tone Cabinets were never meant to run on wind but....

Check out the little sucker that powers my Hammond Organs, a 300-watt wind generator....it works fine!...and the best part is that we don't pay any electricity bills!  When the wind stops, there's always the solar panels....

My first Hammond (below) was hell to move into the house...

Yes, that's a 1961 RT3...the 'concert model' from the late tonewheel era....not only does it have the usual features of the B3 and C3, Laurens Hammond kindly put in a vacuum-tube synthesiser (the 'Pedal Solo Unit') to recreate the 32-foot pipes of a huge classical organ!  The PR40 Hammond Tone Cabinet to the right does an admirable job of reproducing these low frequencies...in fact it the bass has to be 'toned down' for the size of our loungeroom!  Apparently some installations used several of these cabinets to recreate large pipe sounds....have a look at these control tablets...
Reading anti-clockwise from top right, the pedal solo tablets are: 1'& 2'; 4'; 8'; 16'; Pedal Solo On; 32' Bourdon; 32' Bombarde; and Mute.  The knob to the right is the volume control for the unit.  32' Bombarde is my favourite, but it sure freaks out the neighbour's cows...this organ sounds mighty good  with both the PR40 and a Leslie Tone Cabinets hooked up at the same time!

Next is the M3 - the little 'spinet'
...also a 1961 model, these were built for the home market but this one actually lived in a small church in Adelaide for many years...the Australian distributor originally fitted these models with a reverb amp and extra speakers on the back!  It has recently been modified a little more to give it 'extra harmonics' on the upper manual...see the intricate contacts and wiring under the keys in my adding foldback page

This aint no Hammond, it's my Gretsch 6120, but there's a Leslie Tone Cabinet back there somewhere...
